Key MOAA leaders met with VA Secretary Doug Collins last week, sharing details about our organization and its mission, and exchanging ideas on the future of veterans care and benefits.

The meeting at VA headquarters in Washington, D.C., allowed the secretary, who was confirmed in early February, to hear firsthand about MOAA’s key priorities for all who serve and have served, their families, their survivors, and their caregivers.

“These relationships matter – not just to the people in the room, but to the millions of veterans eligible for all manner of VA services,” said MOAA President and CEO Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, USAF (Ret), who attended the meeting along with MOAA Vice President for Government Relations Maj. Gen. April Vogel, USAF (Ret), and Senior Director of Government Relations Cmdr. René Campos, USN (Ret). “We look forward to continuing the conversation with Secretary Collins and his team at the VA, and doing our part to ensure all veterans receive the care and benefits they’ve earned.”

In addition to MOAA’s ongoing advocacy work, we continue to support VA’s enactment of recent legislation that will expand and improve veteran and caregiver benefits, such as last year’s Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act and 2022’s Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, which promises generational reform to toxic-exposure-related care and benefits.

Veterans’ benefits and support also will be a key focus of MOAA’s inaugural TotalForce+ event, a two-day conference set for Oct. 28-29 in National Harbor, Md. Learn more about the event and register at this link.
